Photoshop, VMware fixed
2010/06/01
Adobe and VMware have released security updates for their products.
Adobe has released Photoshop CS4 version 11.0.2 for Windows and Mac OS X to close holes in the code for processing ASL, ABR and GRD files. The holes allow attackers to gain control of a computer via specially crafted files. To fall victim to the attack, users must manually open the file in Photoshop. Photoshop CS5 is not affected.
Separately, VMware has also released updates for several of its virtualization solutions to close numerous security holes. Particularly affected are VMware ESX, ESXi, vCenter, VirtualCenter and vMA. The problems are mainly caused by flawed third-party software such as Kerberos, GCC and OpenSSL shipped with VMware products.
