VirusBuster wins VB100 award on Windows Server platform
VirusBuster for Windows Servers has achieved a "Virus Bulletin 100%" (VB100) award in the latest Virus Bulletin comparative review carried out on the Windows 2008 Server R2 platform.
May's test environment of the renowned malware journal was Microsoft’s latest upgrade to its server solution, which is, as the editors point out, essentially a Windows 7 Server. Virus Bulletin expected that the new platform and the use of full x64 "would deter some vendors from entering products for what could be a rather tricky test", but in the end, as many as 33 products entered into the race.
VirusBuster for Windows Servers 6.2.51 performed very well in the test. It demonstrated 100% efficiency when tested against viruses in the wild (ITW) and showed no problems on the clean sets either. The program also showed good performance in the RAP (Reactive And Proactive) test, which checks the ability of antivirus products to detect and accurately identify new and unknown malware samples. The review's conclusion was: "VirusBuster proves worthy of a VB100 award".
Virus Bulletin (www.virusbtn.com), an independent medium of the computer security industry, has carried out comparative testing of antivirus products for over a decade. The first VB100 awards were issued in 1998, and, since then, they have gained worldwide reputation. The tests focus on virus detection rates and scanning speeds, as well as at how each product fares when scanning a set files that are known to be clean.
In order to win the VB100 award, the product tested must detect all in the wild viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning, but must not generate any false positives when scanning a set of clean files. Once again, VirusBuster successfully met these high expectations.
