"Virus Bulletin 100%" award on Windows 7 platform

VirusBuster, the Hungary-based IT security vendor has won another prestigious "Virus Bulletin 100%" (VB100) certification, this time in the competition of antivirus products designed for Windows 7, Microsoft's latest operating system.

Virus Bulletin's most recent comparative review of antimalware products covered software running on Windows 7 workstations. Competing with as many as 42 rivals on the new platform, which was introduced in Hungary on October 31, VirusBuster Professional performed very well in the test.

The product submitted was the latest, 6.2, version, already based on a new antivirus engine. The new engine release (version 5) uses ERU (engine rapid update) technology, i.e. the system doesn't require product updates from the user, rather, it follows development changes through virus database updates.

VirusBuster Professional 6.2 demonstrated 100% efficiency when tested against viruses in the wild (ITW), worms and bots. Reviewers praised the software's easy installation process, and were pleased with scanning speeds. As they put it in their evaluation: "a VB100 award is duly earned".

Virus Bulletin (www.virusbtn.com), an independent medium of the computer security industry, has carried out comparative testing of antivirus products for over a decade. The first VB100 awards were issued in 1998, and, since then, they have gained worldwide reputation. The tests focus on virus detection rates and scanning speeds, as well as at how each product fares when scanning a set files that are known to be clean.

In order to win the VB100 award, the product tested must detect all in the wild viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning, but must not generate any false positives when scanning a set of clean files. Once again, VirusBuster successfully met these high expectations.
